The Czech koruna opened flat at 27,95 CZK/EUR today, but during the session, the rate firmed as far as to 27,87 - current record high. Towards the session end, however, the koruna has lost the position and closed at 27,93 CZK/EUR. Governor of the Czech central bank, Zdenek Tuma, have made some dovish comments today, even saying the koruna had been "totally crazy" during past weeks of surge, but the comments had only marginal impact on market.
The CZK ends weaker against the dollar at 21,14 CZK/USD, due to moves on the USD/EUR market. The dollar has firmed from Friday, correcting a part of its previous heavy losses. But, the rise ended at 1,3130, then the dollar slowly returns to weaker levels. Ex-Fed chairman A. Greenspan said he expected a few years of weak dollar. This has some negative impact on USD at the moment and the dollar trades at 1,3250 USD/EUR.
