Czech premier Milos Zeman said yesterday that there are unofficial bids on CEZ, which reach CZK 260bn. The previous tender for CEZ was canceled because no bidder was willing to pay CZK 200bn, a minimum required by the cabinet.
Israeli Housing&Construction starts construction works on D47 highway today, beginning with works close to Ostrava. Although a realization contract between the Czech State and the Israeli company has not been signed yet.
Czech statistical office confirmed they are working on GDP revision. The revised quarterly figures for the years 1998, 1999 and 2000 will be published on June 18, the data for 2000 will likely be revised upwards. The figures for 2001 will be published together with 1Q 2001 GDP data on June 20.
German business climate index rose in May, showed a release yesterday. The index, which is a kind of “leading” indicator, rose to 91.5 points from 90.5 points in April. Favorable news from the biggest european economy helped euro to advance on FOREX markets.
April German producer prices fell by 0.1% in comparison with March. The fall was driven by cheaper natural gas and lower prices in electronic industry. PPI is lower by 0.8% than the same period of last year.
