Czech equities, as measured by the PX Index, strengthened by 1.7% in the past week and closed at 1,444.2. The overall volume of trading on the PSE reached USD 933.7m, 26.9% below its 12M weekly average of USD 1,276.8m. The winner of the past week is Philip Morris. Stock price jumped from its 15-year low by 11.5%. Komercni banka gained more than 10% on the back of a big international buyer and a huge short squeeze. Foreign buying appetite lifted also Telefonica O2 CR. NWR benefited from addition to GME universe at Morgan Stanley and upgrades from some analysts. The most traded (almost 50% of total turnover) listing CEZ increased by 2.4%. Companies losing the most during the past week were CME followed by real estate developers.For the coming week, Unipetrol will publish its selected operating results for 2Q08 on Friday, July 18. Also some macro indicators like PPI and retail sales will be announced this week.
