According to CEZ press release, CEZ and Turkish company Akenerji agreed to start talks about their potential cooperation on Turkish electricity market. The outcome from the talks is expected after several months. Akenerji has 12 gas power plants with total capacity of 541MW. Turkish consumption of electricity is growing around 8-9% annually vs. 2-3% European countries. In addition, experts predict that it is inevitable to add 50 000MW of new capacity by the year 2020 in order to satisfy growing consumption, e.g. total installed capacity in Czech Republic is 17 000MW. Our view: Even though there isn’t information disclosed what is the intention of the possible future cooperation between CEZ and Akenerji, but we can assume that they plan to build new power plants which we would see positively given the fact that it is expected by the expert that up to 50 000MW of new capacity is required in Turkey by 2020.
