Czech equities, as measured by the PX Index, increased by 2.7% in the past week and closed at 926 points. The overall volume of trading on the PSE reached USD 331m, 54% below its 12M weekly average of USD 721m. Among the best performers were banks during past week. Erste Bank and Komercni banka gained more than 6%. The star of the week was CME with 8.5% jump. Nice raise showed also Philip Morris who strengthened by 5.6%. NWR declined almost 17% after it reported its 1Q09 numbers which came-in below market expectations due to fall of sales volume. Also developer Orco headed down after 1Q09 results. Orco missed projections on the back of financial items. This week there are quarterly reports from ECM, Pegas and AAA Auto. Komercni banka goes ex-dividend on Wednesday, May 27.
