The deficit in the current account balance of payments decreased from CZK 32.7bn to CZK 5.8bn in September. After a distinctly negative surprise in August, the current account balance ended better that expected. Although the volume of dividends paid abroad remained high, the foreign trade balance significantly improved after the end of the holiday season when it was supported by the strong crown, which lowers import prices and increases export prices. Although the news is more favorable than the average estimate of the current account balance, it is not sufficient to move the crown exchange rate.
