The Parliament should approve the new media bill next week regulating transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, which should allow the creation of 12 and later 24 new TV channels. Note that there are currently 4 analogue TV stations; i.e. 2 state and 2 commercial. CME owns TV Nova with a viewing audience of 42.2% followed by TV Prima with 21.6%. TV Nova applied for the digital license. CME’s CEO, Michael Garyn, said that new entrants will not be able to gain a critical market share. Garyn also said that TV adds prices are growing worldwide while CEE TV adds prices should outperform as multinationals are establishing themselves in these markets.
