The Czech government plans no restrictions on buyers in the privatization tender for the state's 63% stake in Unipetrol, Reuters reported on Friday. The state will sell Unipetrol as a whole and the only criteria for evaluating the bids will be the offered price and its timing.
While positive, this is not new information.
The Czech-based Euro newsweekly reports today that PKN Orlen of Poland might team-up with Czech Agrofert toward participating in the bidding. OMV, Rotch Energy, and MOL are expected to bid as well. The government should choose the tender winner by the end of March 2004.
