Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski appointed Adam Szafranski to replace energy regulator head Leszek Juchniewicz, who had been the last government agency director appointed by the previous administration. Szafranski is a lawyer who graduated from the University of Warsaw, the Polish government said in a statement on its Web site today. It gave no reason for Juchniewicz's dismissal.
Our view: Former URE director Mr.Juchniewicz was known for heavily opposing the rise in natural gas tariffs for (5 PLN, -0,20%). The company itself views positively the new appointment. (5 PLN, -0,20%) (47 USD, 0,60%) apply for new tariff increase in September, however the most probable case scenario is that the tariffs will remain unchanged until the end of the year. We see the news as positive for the company.
