This year has certainly not been short of dramatic moments. No country seems to remain unscathed by the financial crises that spread from the US followed by the generally feared recession. This development can be illustrated by the development on financial markets: From the beginning of 2008 (as of 22 December) American DJIA was losing 35.32%, Nasdaq 41%, German S&P 500 -39.5%, DAX -41.8%, Austrian ATX 63.7%, French CAC 40 -42.5%, Asian Hang Seng -46.4% and Nikkei -43%. The Czech stock market was not doing any better – the PX index has dropped 55% since the beginning of the year. The only stock that managed not only to keep its value but to strengthen was Zentiva with a gain of 11.9%. The rest of the Czech stocks offered an unsightly picture: developer Orco lost 92.4% of its value, NWR dropped by more than 88% and the third “prize” belongs to CME and AAA Auto who both erased more than 81%.How was your year 2008 on financial markets?
