Poland’s current Minister of Health, Zbigniew Religa, intends to introduce RUM (Register of Medical Service) in 2006. The project, valued at a minimum of PLN 200m, was originally part of the Offset Program, but, in recent years, it was dropped with only one region – Slask – having a preliminary version of the register implemented (by ComputerLand). Recently, the Minister stated that he wants at least part of the RUM project to be implemented this year. The workings on a preliminary version have already been introduced in the NFZ (National Health Fund) for the Wielkopolska region with SPiN and Kamsoft doing the implementation. As IT service support for the NFZ 16 regional outlets is split in half between SPiN (50% Prokom) and ComputerLand, these companies will most likely be chosen to implement the system. At present, there are two possible solutions: i) one of these two companies wins the whole project or ii) the project is implemented via a consortium. The latter solution could present difficulties as the systems of SPiN and ComputerLand are different. We believe the news could have a positive impact on the stock prices of both ComputerLand and SPiN.
