According to the National Property Fund (NPF) Deputy Chairman, Pavel Kuta, PKN is not planning to formally ask the European Commission for clearance of the purchase of the 63% stake in Unipetrol until November 15, as the EC has asked for additional material. This is the second postponement, as the EC ruling was originally expected firstly at the end of October and then at the end of November. As the EC has 30 days to decide whether the transaction violates competition rules, its decision can now be expected by mid-December. So far, PKN has been holding preliminary talks with the EC.
