An international committee, which assessed Temelin’s environmental impact as a result of a Czech-Austrian governmental agreement, found the nuclear plant to be environmentally safe. Specifically, the committee’s report said that the plant ‘s impact on the environment is “low and acceptable.” The report is to undergo public hearings in the Czech Republic and Austria. It is unlikely to deter Austria’s protest in the near term, but it is an important step toward the ultimate resolution of the Czech-Austrian conflict over the plant, at least at the governmental level, and as such it is positive for CEZ stock.
