The PX-50 index rose by a mere 0.6% last week, closing Friday at 555.9 points. The overall market volume was USD 86.8 mil., which was 30% below the 12M weekly average. CEZ was the major gainer on the week, rising by 3.7% to CZK 113.3 after its board of directors announced a dividend proposal of CZK 4.5 per share. Philip Morris CR was also ahead at week’s end, having closed Friday up 3.0% at CZK 12,421. Unipetrol posted a gain of 0.4% to CZK 50.20.
Cesky Telecom and Ceske radiokomunikace closed the week unchanged at CZK 347.50 and CZK 196.80, respectively.
On the downside, Erste Bank lost 1.7% and Komercni banka lost 0.6%.
Komercni was the volume leader, but its volume only reached USD 29.9 mil, which was 50% below its 12M weekly average.
This week, we will watch for developments related to Cesky Telecom (e.g., Eurotel acquisition, dividend proposal) ahead of its June 13 AGM.
