The PX-50 index was down yesterday, losing 0.68% to 406.9 points. Volatile European markets, which remain locked in a negative trend, contributed to the negative sentiment here. The market was downbeat despite news that the EU affirmed the Czech Republic and nine other countries as leading candidates toward EU enlargement in 2004. Komercni banka was among the biggest losers as the DJIA hit a 5-year low; Komercni banka lost 2.3% on volume in the SPAD of USD 8.09 mil., and CEZ, another big loser yesterday, lost 2.0% to CZK 88.80. Other names traded laterally on low volumes. Today, the market is expected to further decline. Volume in the SPAD reached USD 18 mil. on Wednesday.
