Cabinet Politics went through another swing yesterday. The leaders of the three coalition parties agreed on the formation of a new majority Cabinet. The agreement preceded the resignation of three deputy leaders of the second coalition party, the Christian Democrats (KDU), thus meeting CSSD’s condition of not proposing party leaders to the new majority Cabinet based on the three old coalition parties (CSSD, KDU and US). At the same time, CSSD’s leadership chose Jiri Paroubek, currently minister for regional development, as the new PM. The current PM, Stanislav Gross, would resign. The new agreement still needs to be agreed by CSSD’s Central Executive Committee on April 23.
