Strong gains by Ceske radiokomunikace and Unipetrol lifted the Czech equity market higher last week. The two titles rose by 5.5% and 4.0%, respectively, contributing to the headline PX-50 index’s overall gain of 1.8%, to 550.3 points (the blue-chip PX-D index strengthened by 1.8% to 1,359.9 points).
CEZ was also higher on the week (+3.7%), closing Friday at CZK 111.1. Erste Bank, which saw thin trading (USD 1.5 mil.), was up 1.8% in closing Friday at CZK 2,488. Philip Morris CR and Komercni banka both rose by 1.2% to CZK 13,963 and CZK 2,034, respectively. KB was again the most traded title with a volume of USD 58.1 mil. Cesky Telecom underperformed the market and rose only marginally (+0.6%). Total volume on the Prague Stock Exchange reached USD 140.8 mil. last week, slightly above the 12M weekly average of USD 139.2 mil.
