(Pavel Růžička) There was a massive sell-off of Czech equities on Wednesday, with the PX-50 index losing 2.94% on the day. Cesky Telecom was hardest hit as it weakened by 5.43%, closing at CZK 644.50. No buying interest, numerous portfolio sellers, and intra-day short speculators were behind the stock’s weakness. The sell orders came primarily from abroad. Other stocks followed CT’s decline — Komercni lost 3.2% and Ceske Radio closed down 2.3%, at CZK 1,696. Trading was conducted without any news flow yesterday; the market now seems set again to copy the major European and US indices. Daily volume reached USD 18.9 mil.
