Czech equities, as measured by the PX Index, were up by 1.8% for the week ending February 29th to close at 1,566.0. The overall volume of trading on the PSE reached USD 842.9m, 32.2% below its 12M weekly average of USD 1,242.5m. The best performance of the past week was given by Komercni Banka, which gained 5.1% on the back of the Societe Generale takeover story. CEZ reported its 4Q07 numbers which came in in-line with estimates and the company reiterated its 2008 outlook. CME gained 2.3% after it posted strong 4Q07 numbers and gave a bullish outlook. Erste Bank strengthened by almost 2%. The 4Q07 results announced by the company were slightly better than expected and Erste also confirmed its projections for 2008 and 2009. Unipetrol ended the week down by 1.6%. The quarterly results released by the company disappointed investors when they fell below consensus estimates. No results announcements are scheduled for this week. Only the usual amount of macro economic data will be released.
