Cesky Telecom’s EuroTel yesterday reported 2.17 mil. cellular users at the end of 2000 (102% growth y-to-y), which is a higher figure than we had forecast, and suggests a highly successful Christmas season for EuroTel. Ceske radiokomunikace’s RadioMobil yesterday reported a year-end user figure of 1.85 mil. (111% growth y-to-y), also slightly higher than we expected. EuroTel now enjoys some 50% market share, vs. 43% for RadioMobil. Overall Czech cellular penetration stood at some 43% at the year’s end, up from 19% one year ago, implying some 125% growth y-to-y. Generally positive news, indeed, but not the kind of news that should move the respective stocks.
