The Czech-based MFDnes newspaper speculates today that CEZ may not have to sell a majority stake in one of the five recently acquired regional power distributors (SCE), as required by the Anti-Monopoly Office. The AMO's ruling compelling a divestiture was based on its assessment of CEZ's position on the local market. However, as the Czech Republic will join the EU in May 2004, the entire EU market could reportedly be considered as the relevant market. Neutral at the moment.
