The Bulgarian anti-monopoly office said that the Russian RAO UES should not acquire the two power plants Rousse and Varna as it would give it a dominant position on the market. RAO UES was expected to complete the acquisition by July 20. RAO UES offered EUR 578.8m for Varna and EUR 105.3m for Rouse. Note that CEZ finished second in the tender for the two power plants and so may be able to acquire one of them. The Bulgarian privatization agency, however, has not yet received any official decision from the anti-monopoly office.
