Oskar/Vodafone’s executive director for subsidiaries announced plans to launch a 3rd generation network UMTS this year. Oskar/Vodafone will be able to offer TV channels, music downloads and e-mail handling via an upgraded version of UMTS called HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), which allows high speed internet access. Vodafone already operates UMTS in 17 countries. Note that Eurotel started its UMTS on 1 December last year and is focused on TV broadcasting, audio and data service. Eurotel also plans to raise its internet connection by introducing HSDPA in coming months. We believe that the mentioned information will not impact today’s trading on Cesky Telecom. We reiterate our Sell recommendation.
