T-Mobile CR, the No. 2 domestic mobile operator, in which České radiokomunikace owns 39%, announced officially yesterday that it gained 438,000 new customers last year and thus had 3.95m customers at the end of 2003. Recall that Eurotel registered 4.22m clients (+323,000 y-o-y) and Cesky Mobil had 1.55m customers (+367,000 y-o-y). The mobile penetration rate approached 95% at the end of 2003.
We believe that the above figures confirm T-Mobile CR's effort to become No. 1 on the market in two years in terms of clients and in four years in terms of revenues. Eurotel seems to have already shifted its focus to the retention of customers and ARPU maximization.
