CNB Gov. Miroslav Singer said in an interview for local press that a reason for the central bank to intervene against the crown might be if people had the feeling that real-estate prices will fall forever. The CNB, he said, does not have a “dramatically good” feeling about the current value of the crown, which has been appreciating. He said the CNB has been lowering interest rates to make it unpleasant for people to keep money in the bank. He does not understand why people are behaving as if the world will end tomorrow, he said, because the situation in the CR and the world is better than it was three years ago. Not even the collapse of the eurozone would be a reason to build a bunker, he said. / We would not expect any immediate action of CNB to weeken Czech koruna according to the interview.
