The Czech HN daily reports that Cesky Telecom made a proposal to the telecom-sector regulator calling for the unification of Cesky Telecom’s local and national long-distance tariffs as of February 2003; the high-traffic unified tariff would reportedly be below CZK 1.60 per impulse (the current tariffs are CZK 1.40 for local and CZK 3.65 for national LD calls). The tariff would thus be considerably lower than mobile-phone tariffs and would be competitive with the tariffs of other operators on the Czech market. Expected.
Separately, the Cabinet did not discuss Cesky Telecom privatization yesterday, but it likely will at a meeting scheduled for November 18 or at the end of November.
