An adviser to the Slovak Ministry of Economy said that Globtel, the No.1 cellular operator in Slovakia, might list its stock in London as well as in Prague in the upcoming IPO. A fast Globtel’s listing in Bratislava, the Slovak capital, seems to have come across legal obstacles. The stock should go public by October, and listing in Prague would stimulate further interest in the Czech equity market. The particular attraction would be a direct exposure to cellular telephony (currently, investors can gain exposure to cellular telecoms only through Cesky Telecom or Ceske radiokomunikace), though in a smaller market. However, nothing is certain at this stage; more information is expected after Tuesday’s meeting of Globtel’s IPO managers.
