Czech equities, as measured by the PX Index, were up by 0.2 % in the past week and closed at 1,456.2. The overall volume of trading on the PSE reached USD 664.0m, 40.0% below its 12M weekly average of USD 1,107.1m.
CEZ reported good quarterly numbers and management also improved its 2008 guidance. CEZ increased by 0.3% as the company did not manage to hold first gains. Also (208 CZK, -1,52%) reported 2Q08 results which came-in below expectations on net profit but beat expectations on the EBIT level. gained more than 7% during past week. (1 375 CZK, -1,08%) became the best performing stock of the last week, supported by its US trade line. (994 CZK, -1,67%) declined by 3.3%, on the contrary Komercni banka gained 2.6%. Coal producer (451 CZK, -0,55%) decreased copying coal prices.
This week, there are only (1 050 CZK, -1,22%) 2Q08 results on the agenda, otherwise no major corporate catalysts are expected.
