The Czech Press Agency today quotes the CEO of Enel (an Enel/Iberdrola consortium is also on the bidder’s shortlist) who said CEZ would be a basis for Enel expansion into Germany; nuclear power plant operation know-how and coal-power plants are cited to be among the other main reasons for Enel’s interest in CEZ.
The Anti-Monopoly Office is still negotiating with the Ministry of Industry about the CEZ privatization strategy, namely about the joint privatization of CEZ, transmission and distribution assets. Based on AMO’s own analyses, a joint sale of the combined assets would harm competition in the sector, in which case the AMO would not approve such a transaction (Czech Press Agency). Neutral.
