First trading day of 2001 was marked once again by fears of a US economy slowdown, which negatively influences trading in Czech stocks. The market traded in a low volume of USD 7.68 mil. Cesky telecom traded in CZK 500 level once again, supported by interest from retail brokers. Cesky telecom closed down 0.16% at CZK 502.90. Philip Morris CZ, formerly known as Tabak, traded in a good volume of more than 7,138 shares changing hands. For today, we expect weak opening, focus will be primarily on Cesky telecom, which may lose breath at the open. Rest of the market will move sideways.
