The Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU), the market regulator, opened a tender for the 3rd UMTS license. The license is to be first offered to Oskar, the No. 3 mobile operator, for CZK 2bn. The offer is valid until the end of February. If Oskar does not accept the offer, CTU will declare an auction by March 31, which should last until June. According to previous speculation, Oskar was willing to pay CZK 300-500m. There were rumours that there is another company interested in acquiring the license. Source: Bloomberg
