Swisscom has confirmed its interest in the Cesky Telecom privatization. The company has not though disclosed any further information regarding the possible price nor its conditions. Swisscom told us that its interest is a result of several factors including the collapse of negotiations with the Austrian Cabinet on the sale of Telekom Austria, and a strategy of acquiring small incumbent operators with majority control and a strong balance sheet with significant scope for increasing leverage. Note that Swisscom sold its stake in CT back in December 2003 together with KPN (in the TelSource consortium, in which KPN held a 51% stake).
