The PX-50 index closed up 0.85% to 426.5 points yesterday as Cesky Telecom led the gainers on strong domestic demand. Ceska sporitelna continued losing ground somewhat on a strong volume exceeding USD 17.6 mil., and the stock traded below the price of the buyout offer intended by AVS, the parent company of Ceska sporitelna’s owner, Erste Bank. Overall, Wednesday’s trading was quiet with no substantial volatility. Total volume reached USD 28.4 mil. For today, we will likely begin to see some window-dressing activity as the quarter ends on major markets, but we expect not more than moderate volume. Please note that Friday is a normal trading day in Prague, though Monday, April 1, is a public holiday.
