Reuters reported yesterday that the Czech Cabinet agreed last week that only three UMTS licenses will be offered by the state, which is good news for the three incumbent cellular operators. A maximum of three licenses was one of the conditions set by Ceske radiokomunikace’s RadioMobil and Cesky Telecom’s Eurotel toward accepting a higher license price (the price has been fixed at CZK 6.7 bil. per license, but this may still change). The news may have helped the two telecom stocks outperform the market yesterday.
