The European Commission has completed a “final document” related to Temelin power plant’s safety, and the contents of the document will be revealed to Czech and Austrian officials in the coming days. The document is part of a Temelin environmental impact assessment, agreed to in December 2000 by the Austrian and the Czech governments and co-ordinated by the EC. Once revealed, the document could help to clear the information mass that has surrounded Temelin in recent weeks (and may have some impact on the stock).
Separately, Joerg Haider’s FPO party, a member of the Austrian ruling coalition, has begun a campaign to block the Czech Republic’s accession into EU unless Temelin is halted. The FPO initiative has been condemned across the Austrian political spectrum, and is unlikely to impact CEZ stock.
