PKN Orlen’s Czech unit Unipetrol has filed a complaint to the Czech competition protection watchdog against Czech pipeline operator Mero, as PKN claims that Mero’s prices, which are higher than the EU average, are unjustified, Puls Biznesu reports. Our view: Visibility on such matters is always very low, hence we see the news as neutral at this stage. The higher pipeline fee Unipetrol is currently paying is simply the icing on the cake after the company was forced to replace the majority (at least 50-60%) of crude deliveries from Druzhba with deliveries from the IKL and TAL pipelines in April.
