After yesterday’s press speculation that the government was considering a purchase of Bank BPH from Unicredito if it is denied permission to takeover the company, central bank president Leszek Balcerowicz strongly underlined that ‘in a country of law it is not a minister that establishes the rules of the game, but regulations that everybody needs to comply with’. In our opinion, the comment from central bank president gets to the point. However, as the market did not react negatively yesterday to the initial ludicrous story, we do not expect the 'common sense' of the NBP president to have any impact on the stock price today.
