CEZ will launch a first auction round for a capacity of 400MW (240 MW during the summer) for 2006 at the beginning of August; the same auction will be launched next year for 2007. CEZ has to comply with a previous ruling by the anti-monopoly office (March) to launch the action for competition reasons while it changed its ruling on CEZ’s obligation to sell its majority stake in Severoceska Energetika, a distribution company. CEZ has set a minimum price to cover its cost of CZK 4.54m per MW per year. The final impact on CEZ’s performance would depend on the actual price obtained at the auction. Note that CEZ’s total capacity is 12,297 MW (group).
