The Slovak Cabinet has postponed the deadline for bids for the largest Slovak power producer, Slovenske elektrarne (SE), by two to four weeks (from June 18), as it must determine "what buyers should pay for some assets", Bloomberg reported on Thursday. Besides CEZ, the Italian Enel, the Russian RAO UES, E.ON of Germany and the US-based AES Corp. are reportedly interested in SE. The postponement was largely expected. Neutral.
Separately, CEZ launched a tender regarding its 34% stake in Prazska energetika, a regional power distributor. Recall that according to the Anti-Monopoly Office ruling, CEZ has to sell the minority stake by the end of September 2004 following the acquisition of five majority stakes in regional distributors in April 2003.
