The Industry Minister, M. Urban, said that CEZ might potentially bid for the state’s 55% stake in the major domestic coal mining company, Severoceske doly (SD), where CEZ already holds a 37% stake. Recall that CEZ was excluded from the recently cancelled privatization of SD. Mr. Urban specifically said he could imagine that CEZ placing a joint bid with Mostecka uhelna, another domestic coal mining company, as this would stabilize both the mining industry in the CR and coal supplies to CEZ. The Ministry of Industry should submit a new privatization concept for SD by the end of 2004. Source: Hospodarske noviny
