The Austrian Constitutional Court decided last week that the Austrian regulator (Energie-Control) must not impose import restrictions on electricity from the Czech Republic (CTK, Die Presse). While this may not be a sufficient measure to enable CEZ to export energy to Austria, it is certainly a move in the positive direction. A termination of export barriers to Czech energy to some neighboring countries is expected after EU enlargement in May 2004.
CEZ reported its 9M 2003 CAS results on Friday. Nominal and volume sales were in line, and operating margins better than expected.
