Arcadis announced that it has acquired Geohidrología Consultores (GeoHidrología), one of the largest hydro consulting companiesin Chile with 55 employees. Arcadis acquired 100% of the shares from the management of the company, who will remain within the firm. Financial details were not disclosed. GeoHidrologia works for private and public clients in the mining and water utilitysector, including copper mining companies like Codelco, SQM and Collahuasi; Aguas Andinas (largest sewage and drinking water utility of Chile), the Chilean Water Agency and the Chilean National Geology and Mining Service. Its capabilities are in surface hydrology, environmental and hydraulic engineering and geothermal resource management (reducing energy consumption). The merger should allow Arcadis and GeoHidrologia to promote the development and internationalization of GeoHidrología. Our View: With 55 FTE’s we estimate the revenues of GeoHidrologia at € 3-4m. This compares to Arcadis Group revenues of ~ € 2.5bn and Rest of World revenues of € 0.4bn. From a strategic point of view this deal is interesting since it allows Arcadis to expand its expertise in the local water and mining industry while expanding its exposure to the attractive Chilean market. Arcadis publishes FY12 results on March 28.
