Dana Drabova, the State Nuclear Safety Office (SNSO) chairwoman, said that if the first reactor of the Temelin nuclear power plant is halted again for the same reasons as last Thursday, the SNSO could impose financial sanctions on CEZ. In that event, the SNSO would also address the plant management’s ability to fulfill its duties, Drabova said. Temelin management had earlier this week announced that the first reactor should be re-started by the weekend. The comments by the SNSO suggest that this may be in doubt. The stock is unlikely to react, though it seems that there is potential for future downside should the problems with activation and testing continue.
Vaclav Klaus, the leader of the opposition party ODS, said that Austria can not expect that a new Czech Cabinet (general elections take place in the Czech Republic June 14 and 15) would negotiate Temelin’s activation. Expected.
