The Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) released new pricing for Cesky Telecom’s regulated tariffs, which includes a lower monthly subscription, removal of the free calling credit and lower long-distance calls. In addition, the ruling lowers the price for local loop unbundling (LLU). The ruling is effective of April 25. The full impact of the ruling on CT will be known after the company introduces new pricing, which is expected by the end of the week. Nevertheless, the ruling increases the effective price of the subscription. Should this be accompanied by lower calling rates, the tariff re-balancing should be positive for CT in terms of revenues. Note that CT impaired part of its network to a value of CZK 9.9bn in 2003 after it could not reach an agreement with the regulator on tariff re-balancing.
